Fremont 5K & Briefcase Relay
FREMONT 5K RUN & WALK – FRIDAY, JUNE 1, 2018
The 33rd Annual Fremont 5K Run/Walk will take place Friday, June 1st beginning at 6:00pm with the Costumed Briefcase Relay, followed at 7:00pm by the main 5K run/walk event. The Fremont 5K Run/Walk is the unofficial kickoff to summer for the local running community and is attended by 1,000+ people. It is a benefit for FamilyWorks, the food bank associated with Solid Ground, which provides food, housing and home-care services to low-income families.
Course Route
The Fremont 5K begins on N 34th Street just east of the Waiting for the Interurban Statue, next to Adobe Plaza. The route takes 34th Avenue East towards the University District, crossing Stone Way Avenue and continuing on Pacific and then N 40th Street, where it makes a turn onto the Burke Gilman Trail and heads east for a quick out and back returning West on the Burke Gilman Trail all the way to the intersection of Stone Way and N 34th Street. From there the route continues West on N 34th Street back to the start/finish line located in front of the Adobe Plaza.
Impact to Traffic: The following roads will be impacted by the Fremont 5K:
Both lanes of N 34th from Fremont Avenue to Stone Way 5:45pm-7:15pm CLOSED
Eastbound lane of N 34th from Fremont Avenue to Stone Way 5:45pm-7:45pm CLOSED
Eastbound lane of N 34th from Stone Way to Pacific 6:45pm-7:20pm DELAYS
Eastbound lane of Pacific to N 40th Street 7:05pm-7:25pm DELAYS
Eastbound lane of N 40th Street to 6th Ave 7:05pm-7:30pm DELAYS
Intersection at Stone Way & N 34th Intermittent delays from 7:00pm to 7:45pm
Northlake Way & Stone Way Intermittent delays from 7:00pm to 7:45pm
Northbound and Southbound traffic on Fremont Avenue will not be affected.
